Can't Cook, Won't Cook? But We Can Cook!

Free 6 week community cooking project to empower participants to gain the confidence to cook healthy and nutritious meals on low budget, and at the same time bring people together in an enjoyable environment to combat social isolation and improve mental wellbeing.

Participants will also gain an understanding of: food labels; nutritional values, how to reduce food waste, basic food safety and hygiene; and using computers to find recipes and plan meals.

Inclusive sessions for all. We particularly welcome those who are new to living independently, those with young families, people on low/limited incomes, and those who feel isolated.

Sessions will cover:

·         Keeping it Fresh - Soups and sauces

·         Getting Your 5-a-day the Easy Way - cooking with fruit and vegetables

·         Love Food, Hate Waste - Cooking with left overs

·         'To Fry, or Not to Fry - That is the Question' - Healthier cooking methods

·         The 'Mince and the Pauper' - Cheap and healthy ways to cook mince

·         Ready, Steady, Cook - cooking challenge using foodbank items and common ingredients found in most kitchen cupboards and fridges.

There will be opportunities to share ideas and recipes, ask questions, take part, socialise and most importantly enjoy the experience.

Participants will receive folders at start of the course which they will fill with the various handouts on relevant cooking and lifestylle tips and hints, recipes, resources etc.

On successful completion of all session, participants will receive a goodie bag with essential items to continue your cooking journey.
